PICK OF THE DAY!

the PS1 by Proenza Schouler has been thee “it” bag for a while since its debut back in 2008! But what’s so great about the PS1 is that even after 2 years the arm candy is stil as relevant today bcuz it’s just that KOOL! Its easy going not 2 much of a fuss, but still gives an edge & I want one! This bag comes in many textures and colors and would be perfect for the Spring season! Here are a few of my favorite versions. I wish the purple python came in suede- Suede and the deep purple may be considered out of season for the spring, but that’s just the kind of girl I am. I like being a little “off” sometimes!

FAB- BEAU- LUST!!

So I was browsing through Bergdorf’s spring collection online mag- which btw Bergdorf’s catalogue spreads are so AWESOME! Anyways, I spotted 1 of thee most beautiful arm candies by LOEWE! Ever heard of ’em? Well, the brand isn’t as popular as Louis V or Gucci even though it was established b4 both! But to me it makes it that much more luxe and exclusive as you just can’t find this Spanish label just anywhere especially in the U.S.! Ideal Icon Victoria Beckham is a huge fan of the label and now so am I!

IDEALISTS MEET ‘AMAZONA’ by Loewe!

w/ the mix of soft suede and calf leather she retails for $1950! Pricey but its so classic & georgeous!. There are many different versions & sizes but I prefer this one in particular because of the pearl & rose leather detail that really compliment the taupe suede body…right up my alley! Isn’t she beautiful?

FASHION WARS!

In Demi’s Harper’s Bazaar spread, she sported one of Jason Wu’s spring collection dresses paired with Fendi platform’d stilettos. I hinted that one of my favorite supermodels wore the same dress to the ’09 Glamour Awards back in November! Well, of course it was Supermodel Iman! As much as I love Demi, I have to give this to Iman based on the shoe choice alone! Besides, Iman’s complexion brings out this dress. The colors ‘pop’ on her & she simply glows!

But what do you think?
  • Neither!
  • Iman of course!
  • Demi for sure!
  • I don’t even like this dress!

DEMI MOORE’S HARPER’s BAZAAR SPREAD!

Demi Moore is the cover girl for the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar and since I have developed such an obsession lately over magazine spreads & editorials, I thought I’d share this one with you! Ms. “I Die” herself- Rachel Zoe was this shoot’s fashion editor! PLUS Because of my wonderful blog, I instantly could name all…well mostly all of these looks from dress to toe- seeing as though most of the pieces I have covered or at least featured in previous post! Check it out below!

I loved this Oscar De la Renta dress, with the Mary Poppin’s esque theme. But I thought the props could have been better especially since we can see the beach in the background. It made the effect of the shot a little cheesy & kind of looked low budget…..

Paying homage to the the late Alexander McQueen, Demi is pictured wearing one of the looks from the Plato Atlantis s/s ’10 collection. She even is wearing the ballet heels- which I think is pretty kool! The giraffe & the spiral staircase on the beach brought out the fantasy that McQueen was known for. I thought it was artistic. & it was actually my favorite shot!

I thought this look was cute! The dress is from Chanel’s spring collection & the heels I coveted over when they first debuted on the Milan runway, are from the spring collection of Fendi! I didn’t cover the Chanel fashions from the s/s ’10 slightly because I couldn’t get past the clogs! But seeing it in this editorial gives me a very different view and I think this dress is very pretty.

Demi is definitely channeling Victoria Beckham in this shot because this pose is SO her!Anyways, Rachel paired the feather dress from designer Jason Wu’s spring collection with another version of the Fendi platform’d heels! Although I love both the heels & this dress the pairing of the 2 was a miss for me…. but I liked the theme. I thought it brought out the dress!

Can you recall who also wore this same dress from designer Jason Wu’s spring collection back in November to Glamour’s Woman of the Year awards?

Hint: She’s a supermodel & one of my Idealist that I constantly rave about!

Here was another look that featured a Chanel dress paired with the Fendi heels-again both from the spring ’10 collections! I love how the spring collections of Chanel & Fendi really compliment each other! The light, flirty, & girliness of the dresses really bring out the same characteristics in the shoe! Very cute!! Good eye Rachel!

OSCAR DE LA RENTA & MARCHESA FALL ’10

So I know that award season is over & done but the red carpet is a year round event- THANK GOD! 2 of my favorite red carpet designers Oscar de la Renta & Marchesa presented fall collections that were so beautiful I had to share them with you.

OSCAR DE LA RENTA FALL ’10

The best part of this runway show were the gowns & thankfully I found the perfect video clip that cut straight to the heart of this collection! The gowns with the fur wrap made me picture a beautiful socialite probably in her 40’s, of course someone younger could totally pull these gowns off, but this is the picture I got…So anyways, she’s around 40 but could pass for a younger woman anyday! She’s extremely wealthy and has a chauffeur on call @ all times! She doesn’t work, but she’s the wife of a very prominent figure so that deserves a status all its own…. I could go on but my point is this collection really captured the luxury & elegance that I feel is synonymous with the Oscar De la Renta brand!

PLUS

I SPY: Carmen Diaz’s Oscar red carpet gown that I named as one of my best dressed!

MARCHESA FALL ’10

Marchesa has thee most beautiful gowns ALWAYS! From the structure to the pop of color & texture, each design is like a piece of art & I love them to death!!! They have an opulence about them that can make any woman @ any age range from a Dakota Fanning to a Sandra Bullock just feel “girly” & pretty! I can’t say enough about them! If I were a stylist I would definitely pull most of these dresses for MYSELF & maybe 1 or 2 for a client…..lol

GWEN COVERS INSTYLE!

Gwen Stefani is covering the April issue of In Style mag wearing a beautiful blue deep V blouse from the spring ’10 Stella McCartney collection that I loved so much! &; of course it wouldn’t be signature Gwen without the platinum blonde hair and red lip that gives her an edge.

Anyways, I am a HUGE fan of Gwen the artist as well as the great business woman she has become! L.A.M.B. & the Harajuki brand has raked in major revenue since its start and it continues to build as she expands the companies! I actually own a pair of LAMB stilettos myself!

Besides she is one of the VERY FEW celebrities I can think of that has produced an authentic fashion line, that is actually credible in the fashion industry. That alone deserves support in my book! Be sure to pick up a copy on stands now!

BTW
Can you believe that Gwen Stefani is 40?!! Doesn’t she look AMAAAZING!

FASHION FAUX PAS!

OH GOD! So clearly the london gal did not read my 90’s post where I CLEARLY said Denim all over is a definite NO! & now you can see why I said this- because its evidently NOT a good look Estelle! The ill fit PLUS the self cuffed jeans don’t help either BUT I’m never a fan of Estelle’s style anyway, so her doing this wasn’t a shock 2 me @ all! I do, however, like her new song “I can be a Freak” tho…makes me want to turn it up on full blast & Vogue…not in front of others of course….

& MY SOMEWHAT SORRY FOR 2010 GOES TO……..

DRIES VAN NOTEN!!!

During Paris Fashion Week back in October I placed Dries Van Noten’s s/s’10 collection under my Ultimate Fashion Failure post: FASHION FAUX PAS!- totally disagreeing with all of the fashion sites & bashing the designer for mixing bold prints & sending it down the runway! To make it worse I placed the collection in the same category as Emanuel Ungaro’s spring collection!- Now its bad enough to be under this post but to put the label in the company of a collection that made Lindsay Lohan creative director was just plain HARSH!

ESPECIALLY SINCE…….

My new favorite fashion trend for the spring is…you guessed it –PRINT ON PRINT! YEP! It’s been popping up everywhere & I think it looks so cute together. I would love to be able to take the risk this spring to try it out! I can’t believe I couldn’t see what Dries saw back in the Fall, but hey I guess @ 22 I am still just as much a Fashion Rookie as 13 year old Tavi! Everyday that my blog grows, I grow and expand my fashion knowledge-which includes taste & style with it. I learned that Dries Van Noten is a style influencer & has been doing this whole print thing for a while! Sometimes he hits & sometimes he misses…However, this time he was on to something

SO I TAKE IT BACK…..kinda! I think some of the bulbs were still blown in your fashion house, but the lights were not COMPLETELY off in your head-creatively!

&

Although I am considering this trend as a whole, I still stand behind my original thoughts that I’m not a big fan of this particular collection. Just the idea of it! Be mindful that you have to be sensible when mixing & matching so you don’t look like a complete fool!

So if you want to try out this PRINT on PRINT action: Here are a few tips via SHOPBOP.COM!

1. Play with Complimentary Graphic Prints

2. Pair prints with similar sensibilities for a pulled together look

3. Stay in the same color family

4. Do variations of a theme in NEUTRALS & add a bright bag for a splash of color

5. Try 2 tones of the same print

6. Try a subdubbed color for a sophisticated look
